Wedding Pictures

This summer I was asked to take some pictures of a friends wedding.  I was excited to be asked, but nervous! What if I didn't get any good pictures......well I took over 500, so I was bound to get a few quality shots! My friend got married in a beautiful location up in the Colorado mountains.  I'm so glad she asked me to take her wedding pics.   I loved it, I think I found a new hobby!

Diaper Wreath

Well, here is a gift that I made for my friend that had a baby girl back in March.  I have since made another one, but not as fancy, I only used diapers.  It was still very cute and you can give the extra diapers in a cute bag!

Flower Hat

Itty Bitty and her cousin at his 1st Birthday! Adorable!

Itty Bitty looking gorgeous!

Isn't this just the cutest hat ever!  I thought for sure Itty Bitty would rip it off of her head, but nope she left it on all day!  It wasn't even her birthday, and she was getting lots of attention.  I am definitly going to try making this had on my own, how hard can it be?  Well, I will let you know.

Dollar Store Book Finds

I was cruising the Dollar Store, one of my favorite pastimes and came across these books.  I HAD to buy them because I think they frown on me standing there for 20 minutes checking them out!  Anyway, they seem to be pretty darn good stuff in them!

Chalkboard Decor

I have been seeing some really cute ideas for using chalkboard paint  out across the blog land!  I seem to get lost looking at all the creative ideas out there.  I saw a couple of blogs with some crafty ideas, but can't remember all of the blogs, but I got some inspiration from Little Brown House on my chalkboard project.  She painted hers and added some vintage flair to her plates with some dollar store decals.  I finished mine and thought that I should have painted them first, but they still ended up pretty darn cute.

Dollar Store metal plates before I painted them with Krylon Chalkboard Paint.  Sorry about the dust! I didn't even see it on the plates before I took the pictures.

Here is how the plates turned out! Cute don't you think, I know that the top plate looks a little off, but it is easily fixed.  I attached the plates with velcro to the wall, so all I need to do is move the top plate down a bit. Easy Peasy! (that is what my 4th graders would say ha.)

Party Tutu

For the Toy Story Party, I made the Birthday Girl this tutu.  I love the way the pink, green, and white sparkles together!  I didn't give directions to this one, because they are the same as the tutu that I already posted back in January for my daughters 1st Birthday.  There are a few things different with this one.  I only made the pieces of tulle 6" by 18". I also tied little pieces of tulle in the matching color about 1"to 2" from the end of the tulle skirt.  If you have any questions let me know!
Fabulous Birthday Tutu, the little flower is from the DollarStore and I just took
it apart and hot glued it to an alligator clip that I lined with ribbon.

Toy Story Birthday Cake

The kiddos and I went to a birthday party yesterday and the birthday girl had a fabulous cake.  Her mom spent a couple of hours on this one!! I loved it so much I asked her to give me a tutorial.  I will post the directions soon, but until then here is the cake!

Tulle Tutu too cute

I have been trying to find a tutu online for a decent price, well that’s not working! My little girl’s first birthday is next week, and for her birthday I wanted her to have a really cute tutu to wear.  All the ones that are really fluffy and multi-colored are $40 bucks! Well, I decided to do it by myself.

This was super easy! I hit up Wally World and bought some elastic and tulle.  I was amazed at how cheap the tulle was.  I was thinking $4 plus a yard, but it was 1.93 and the turquoise was on sale for .98 a yard!

Anyway, all I did was measure my daughter’s waist with the elastic and cut.  I then quickly sewed the elastic together.  When I sewed I overlapped the ends about 1” to account for stretching. (so the waist length I measured minus an inch.)

I then just started attaching the tulle to the elastic. I cut the tulle down to 6” by 16”.  I wasn’t too worried about being exact.

Here are some pics of what I did.  I did not take a pic of the elastic part, but let me know if you can’t figure it out and I will help y0u.

Here is the tutu in progress.

When I attached the tulle pieces, I attached them by this method. (I have know idea what it is called, maybe latch hook! haha) I bet if you just tied a knot it would be fine.

All done! After the prep work this only took about 30 minutes for me to tie.

So pretty!

Just checking it out

Twinkle Toes

Well, I saw this on this on samstermommy and loved it!  Her's is called Glitter Toes, I'm kinda partial to Twinkle Toes! On her blog it says that it  is the new craze! I looked at her posting date and its from a little over a year ago. I guess I'm a day late, but not a dollar short!  I live out in the back country too, so Twinkle Toes is definitely new to me!  I had all the goodies at home to twinkle my own toes.  I wonder, if  I could get my Itty Bitty to stay still enough for me to do this to her little piggies! Maybe, if I do it while she is sleeping.

I followed samstermommy for the most part, but I used a clear coat first and then sprinkled the glitter on.  It seems to be working fine!  I might try the color polish next time, if I did a color such as red.  I apologize for my feet!  They have been through alot!  The bunions (what a funny word) are from my dad's side of the family! We all have them. (side note: thinking about getting them taken off) Anyway, they look way better in the real!

The flash makes my feet look really white!

Here is a pic with no flash

I included this one, because it looked cool, and shows they really are Twinkle Toes!

I put two coats of clear on top of the glitter.  I waited about a half an hour between clear coats.

You will fall in love with Twinkle Toes, I promise!

Playdough fun

I was checking out my pictures from break and forgot all about when we made playdough.  My son wanted purple, but I didn't mix the food coloring good enough! Oh well we still got a shade of purple.

If you want to make this version the ingredients are:

Ingredients:
1 cup of plain flour
1 cup of water
1 Tbsp. of cooking oil
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2  cup of salt
food coloring

To Make:
Pour all of the ingredients into a sauce pan.  Cook slowly on medium-high and stir it until the playdough thickens. (this happens quick!)
This recipe takes less than 10 minutes

Here are all my ingredients in the sauce pan. Next time I would color the water first because I didn't get the purple I wanted, and it cooks very fast.
Stirring....

Stirring....

All stirred together

I put the play doug in a glass cake dish with flour.  The playdough was very sticky, I wasn't sure if I made it right!

I just kept adding flour until it "felt" like playdough.

My son checking the taste.
Playdough a HIT!
